Your first shoot as a male porn actor

male on his first shoot

We received some nice responses from our previous post for aspiring male porn stars.

Some of the resulting questions centered around what to expect when you first show up to your first shoot.

Your first shoot in the adult world is likely going to be a solo. As in, masturbating. Solo. By yourself. With one or more strangers filming you. Like we said in our previous post, there is no shortage of guys out there who want to use their penis to have sex with lots of pretty people — and earn some money from it at the same time. But if you can’t masturbate in front of one or more strangers, then stop right here — the porn biz is not for you.

A common question we tend to hear is “can I bring my (fill in the blank) to my shoot?”. Uh, no. If you need someone there to be your cheerleader, your eye candy, or just a spiritual guide, then you’re failing the first test before even getting to first base… and you’ll never make it in porn. True, sometimes it’s concern for safety and security — and we definitely acknowledge there is sketchiness out there in the world — a lot of posers. But if you’ve done your homework, and you know that you’re dealing with a real set of business-minded individuals who have a set of ethics and morals, then you can introduce your roommate, friend, significant other, or spouse to the staff member you are meeting with, and then wave goodbye to them for the next hour or two while you are the man we know you can be. Seriously though – if you need someone with you for a porn shoot that the person is not even in, then porn isn’t for you.

Nerves tend to really do a number on some guys who are on their first shoots. And that leads to erection problems. Tough cookies. We can’t sugar coat this one – and neither can you – because the penis doesn’t lie. You’re going to need to develop and maintain an erection for a extended period of time – and in front of one or more (maybe *many* more) strangers. You also may need to masturbate or have sex in numerous positions that may not be particularly comfortable, and in places that may not be particularly comfortable. And lastly, you will need to have an orgasm on cue… and not before. Sure, all of this can lead to being nervous. And if you can’t get comfortable with it, you may want to stick to masturbating alone. Or on webcam where “nobody is with you”.

Again, be aware that there are thousands of men out there who want to be porn stars but there are very few who can actually do it. Even so, there are opportunities out there for the right guys.

We prefer to work with performers who are confident with their choice to do porn and who will feel proud of what they have done. We do our utmost to present your performances with the respect you deserve.
