[1] Horizontal video
- Video camera, including GoPro or similar: These will automatically record horizontal video… so you don’t have to worry about changing anything.
- If you are using a GoPro, then DO NOT record in super wide-view / fish-eye mode.
- Smartphone: You will need to place your phone horizontally (on its side). The long side of the phone should be on the top and bottom.
[2] Camera position AND move it at least once during filming.
- A) Camera should be still / stationary  (not held in your hand)
- B) Camera should be slightly above you with a slight angle downwards
- C) Camera should be able to capture ALL of you, including face
- D) Move the camera to a different position at least one time during the scene (2 times is best)
Don’t worry about looking at the camera as you grab the camera to change positions, that can be edited out later. Also, if you end up with multiple clips for the video, these can all be stitched together later into one full video.
[3] Show your full body including face
- Place the video camera as far back away from you as possible so that it can see all of your body. (Just prop it up on a table or other object.)
- Because porn is a fantasy, showing your full body allows the viewer to focus on whatever part of your body that they’re interested in… INSTEAD of you deciding for them.
- You should aim to always have over most of your full body visible – including face.
- Move your body around occasionally (but don’t overdo it by constantly moving).
- Get into it… and show your legs… Your feet… Your butt.
[4] High-resolution recording quality
- Set your camera (or smartphone) to record on HD.
- HD videos can take up a lot of room on your device. Test it out beforehand so that you can make sure you have enough room for the recording. It’s okay to split it into multiple smaller files — we will edit it for you.
- Make sure you save the HD version. DO NOT COMPRESS YOUR VIDEO. HD videos can be very large – it’s normal for it to take a long time to upload to the web or cloud-sharing service.
[5] Record at least 10 minutes per videoÂ
- Just a rule of thumb, generally-speaking: Your videos should be a minimum of 10 minutes. Many viewers will look for longer videos and pass over the shorter ones.
- The longer, the better.Â
- Make sure you have enough storage on your device. HD videos will eat up storage space quickly.
[6] Good lighting
- Lighting is extremely important when recording video. It should be bright in your video with a light source in front of you NOT BEHIND YOU.
- IMPORTANT: Never film yourself in front of a bright light source (such as sitting in front of a window with sunlight shining in on your back). This creates a ‘backlit’ scene which makes it difficult to see you clearly.
[7] Do NOT start out naked
- Viewers like to see what you look like dressed also!
- Start out dressed (or partly dressed) in whatever your “scenario†is.
- Spend a little time dressed and doing whatever you’re doing before you get undressed.
[8] Getting in the ‘mood’.
- Feel free to watch porn in the background if you want something that gets you in the mood. Just make sure to turn the sound off.
- If you are using your smartphone to record, then (obviously) you will need to use a different device to watch porn.
- Some other ways you can watch porn while videotaping include: using a laptop, TV, or iPad.
- BUT… make sure the viewer isn’t able to see too much of the porn that you’re watching because there are copyright/license issues… and you won’t want to get into any legal trouble.
[9] Orgasm / cumshot
- This is the “money shot”. Homemade porn videos should generally always include the orgasm(s).
- For males, take precautions to NOT shoot your cum onto a white towel, shirt, etc.. or any other area where you can’t see the cum. It’s better to shoot it onto a dark colored surface, cloth, your partner, or just yourself.
- To ensure a GREAT cumshot, we suggest males refrain from sex / masturbating / etc  for as long as possible prior to filming the video. It’s a fact: the bigger the load, the more viewers enjoy seeing the climax happen.
- In porn, it is always a good rule of thump for the viewer to see your face when you orgasm. Your goal is for the viewer to see the intensity & pleasure.
- Never end your video right after the orgasm. Instead, take about 30 seconds to relax and show the relief on your face and body.
- If you’re into tasting, licking, or eating cum, you should do it… many viewers are turned on by this.
- If a male needs prostate stimulation or toys in order to orgasm, show it — many viewers will be turned on by it (plus, there are all kinds of niches and kinks that you probably wouldn’t even think about — but really exist).
- Never start a new video clip immediately before the orgasm occurs. If you have multiple clips that comprise your scene, then just keep the video recording as you work up to it. The orgasm should always be something that the viewer sees building up right before it happens.
[10] IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
A) Clean the room you will be filming in!
- Nobody will get turned on by seeing you in a very messy space — unless that’s part of the scenario itself.
B) Remove location-specific items from the room(s) you film in
- This will ALWAYS be important
- You should never have any “clues†in your videos that would give away anything about where you are from. This includes the region you live in or anything else about your general location. Some viewers are extreme – and want to take their fantasies to a whole other level. Some even want to turn their fantasy into reality, and will want to know everything about you.Â
- This includes awards, diplomas, trophies, sports teams, banners, college / university pennants, certificates, degrees, etc.
- This is for your safety.
C) Don’t add ANY music to your video
- Trust us, you don’t want to get into any legal / copyright issues.Â
D) Do NOT use filters
- Just be yourself, have fun, and don’t worry about having a “perfect†video. It’s okay if it isn’t perfect, or if it’s multiple clips. It can always be edited later. And multiple clips can be stitched together later as well.
E) No animals or children – or anything illegal
- Avoid having dogs, or kids, or babies making noise in another room… video cameras can pick up sounds pretty well… even if you think that nodody will hear it.
- There should be no risk or implication that anything illegal is part of the video (like underage individuals, or animals). Just don’t do it.Â
- There are other things that are considered illegal in certain areas, cities, or countries … you will want to do your research on local laws in your area.Â
- Do not break the law. Common sense stuff, but it’s important in this type of work in particular.
